KRAV MAGA SPOKANE

We are the ONLY official Krav Maga training center in the Spokane area!

Krav Maga Spokane has been the Inland Northwests's leader in reality based self-defense training since 2009. At Krav Maga Spokane, we believe the key to self-defense is a well-rounded approach. You can't run until you learn to walk and you can't fight until you know how to throw a punch or land a kick. And you can't do either if you're out of shape. That's why we offer classes that focus on self-defense, fighting, and fitness.
WHAT IS KRAV MAGA?
A No BS Form of Self-Defense
Krav Maga is a no bs form of self-defense popularized by the Israeli military that uses instinctual movements and reactions to deliver brutally efficient attacks and counterattacks designed to incapacitate your opponent as quickly and efficiently as possible.

What it isn't - a rigid martial art structured around kata's, uniforms, hierarchy, and ancient mystical techniques that serve little purpose today.

Make no mistake. What you learn at Krav Maga Spokane is practical, efficient, and designed for one thing and one thing only: To make sure you and your loved ones get home safe.

TRY ONE OF OUR CLASSES
Intro To Fight
Both of these classes are a 12 week structured program to bring your training to the next level.

Some students find it hard to effectively use striking combinations and angles after they complete the self defense in Krav Maga. These classes will help with that as well as help increase the students' striking, accuracy, strength, fluidity and most importantly how to get off the "X".

Intro To Ground
This 12 week program will introduce you to the place where you never want to be in a street fight. THE GROUND!

The key in a street fight when brought to the ground is to defend yourself and get back to your feet as soon as possible. Learn how to strike effectively from the ground, avoid and defend common submissions and get back to your feet.

Cardio Bag Classes

Being able to throw a punch, land a kick, or defend yourself is only half the battle. If you're too out of shape to sustain your attack, then what's the point? That's why we offer options designed to bring your fitness to the next level.

Cardio Bag: Cardio Bag classes are centered around sustained punches, kicks, and knees intermixed with body weight exercises, kettlebell work, running, sprints, odd object carriers and other functional fitness exercises. They may be short but trust us, they are brutal.

OUR INSTRUCTORS
Brayson Buckner
Owner | Head Instructor

After many years of training and advancing through the Krav Maga system, I saw an opportunity to live out my dream and in 2009 I opened a Krav Maga training facility in Spokane. Since then I have made it my mission to obtain the highest level of training with practitioners from around the country, black belt, and bring true Krav Maga techniques to the Inland Northwest. Krav Maga is not simply a hobby, it's my life.

Favorite Technique:

I love teaching weapons. Knowing that we have the ability to neutralize something so threatening to me is very empowering. While they are some of the harder techniques to learn they are so much fun to train in. Then putting together sparring and weapons, that to me is the pinnacle of Krav Maga.

Tyler Watson
SENIOR INSTRUCTOR

Tyler is a graduate of Montana State University with a degree in Engineering and is the Spokane area manager of a large construction materials company. Initially joining KMS to get in shape, he quickly realized the practical life benefits Krav Maga provides through instinctive responses and simple self-defense techniques that can be used by anyone. He evolved from practitioner to instructor in order to be able to help others learn and develop these skills. Tyler likes teaching and focusing on combative striking because not only is it integral to all other Krav Maga techniques, but it is always fun to hit and kick something! Since Krav Maga combatives can be applied while defending against a wide variety of aggressive situations, he enjoys seeing the confidence good striking builds in students and their ability to go home safe.

Favorite Technique:

Elbows are his, technique holds a special place as my favorite due to its sheer versatility and immediate impact. With minimal effort, it delivers maximum force, making it an essential tool for self-defense. Its adaptability in various situations showcases the practicality of Krav Maga, ensuring one's safety in real-world scenarios.

Jesse Potts
INSTRUCTOR

Jesse joined KMS in 2016. After an alarming experience of someone following her into her home she wanted to protect herself. She is now an orange belt level practitioner, yellow belt certified instructor, and leads women's self defense seminars. She's currently working towards her green belt and her orange belt instructor certification. She plans to continue her training, perfecting her technique, and sharing what she's learned with others.

Favorite Technique:

Jesse's favorite yellow belt technique is elbows. Elbows are very versatile and strong. Some may be delivered bursting in from a distance or from a close range, particularly an elbow one. An elbow can be taken off at many angles, resulting in there being seven elbow variations in Krav Maga.

Mikaella Croskrey

INSTRUCTOR

Mikaella is a Software Engineer and Musician from Spokane. While she was studying at Gonzaga University and working downtown at music venues, Mikaella realized that she needed self-defense skills to keep herself safe. Then she found KMS. Since then, Krav Maga has become an integral part of her life and she strives to help the people around her to live their best lives.

Favorite Technique:

Defensive push kick. It is a technique that can be used proactively to protect your personal space and create distance between you and an opponent. You don’t have to wait until the threat is close enough to touch you. Set that boundary. Create the space that you need for yourself. Stay out of range. Stay safe. BONUS: It’s also handy for kicking down doors.

Earl Ardales

INSTRUCTOR

I was introduced to Krav Maga while serving in the US Air Force. In preparation for deployments, my survival instructors used the system as the basis for combatives training. I enjoyed the training so much that I decided to continue outside of the Air Force at Krav Maga NOVA while living in the DC area, earning my Orange belt before moving to KMS.

Favorite Technique:

My favorite technique to teach is Choke from Mount. While it is important to know the finer points of the technique, I like to stress that it is equally important to not panic. If you can train yourself to take a breath, focus your mind, and properly execute the technique under this stressful scenario you can apply that mindset to any situation...not just in Krav!

Jaclyn Coyle

INSTRUCTOR

I found Krav Maga Spokane while looking for self-defense options for my daughter. Her schedule ended up being too busy to participate in the classes, so I decided to join instead. I found a new passion at 45 years old, have confronted my past traumas and become stronger, healthier and happier. The decision to evolve from a member to an instructor was simple, I knew I wanted to help others reach their goals, find healing, build confidence, feeling supported and finding a place where they belong.

Favorite Technique:

Elbows are killer. They are absolute in versatility with a major instant effect. You can deliver impactful damage that helps create advantages and opportunities to find dominant positions. Elbows can be used in so many ways in so many situations. With age, ability, gender, size and the environment being factors to consifer in an altercation, elbows are reliable and deadly.

I first joined krav when I was 17. I joined in order to get in shape and learn self defense. I lived in an area that wasn't the nicest and I had to walk to and from school, krav gave me the confidence to feel safe when walking to and from school. Unfortunately I have had to use krav maga in the real world, but I am very glad I had the knowledge and training to defend myself. My favorite defenses are choke from the front with a push and choke from behind with a push. Often in the real world people won't be stationary when they try to choke you and these defenses are quick and explosive for getting the choke off and regaining your footing. After moving to Krav Maga Spokane, I really took to teaching the community and welcomed new instructors and made the transition very smooth. If it wasn't for the community pushing and supporting me through every bump in the road I would not be the teacher I am today. I believe the KMS gym is where people can go to learn self defense but also join a community of friends and reliable teammates.

Warren Smawley

INSTRUCTOR

I came to Krav Maga Spokane at 14 in 2019. I knew that I wanted to earn some kind of martial art or self-defense system. After experiences with bullying at school, my mind was set. I came across KMS one day and made the decision that I was going to learn it. With the support of my parents and grandparents I started my Krav Maga journey. I fell in love with the practicality and dedication of the system to the true nature of self defense. I decided to become an instructor because I want to empower others to defend themselves should the need arise.

Favorite Technique:

I love Choke from Mount. It takes the defender from one of the worst positions to be in and only seconds of consciousness left and gets them to their feet with the opportunity to escape. The ground is a fun place to do training however it is a terrifying place to be in a real scenario. Repetition with this technique instills a great amount of confidence so that one can stay calm and take control of their situation.

She has a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and thrives on helping people accomplish their goals both personally and professionally. Beth is always training, always learning, and always up for adventure.

Favorite Technique:

Beth particularly enjoys groundwork due to how terrifying the prospect is of ending up on the ground during a fight. She likes to train with people of different sizes and abilities so the defense becomes a habit under stress. Side control, guard, headlocks and more! Just keep shrimping to a minimum, please...
